Overview

Recipea is a recipe organizer built for families who treasure their cooking heritage. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the limited service providers that help us operate.

Data We Collect

When you create an account and use Recipea, we collect and store the following information:

• Account information, such as your name and email address
• Recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, cook sessions, and personal notes you create
• Photos and scanned images of recipe cards that you upload
• Basic technical information sent with requests, such as app version and platform (iOS or Android), used for debugging and compatibility

This data is stored on our private cloud infrastructure, located in the United States.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to provide the Recipea service: to sync your recipes across your devices and our web application, to let you organize and share recipes within groups you create, and to digitize scanned recipe cards into structured recipes.

Service Providers

Recipea relies on a small number of service providers to operate. These providers process data only on our behalf, under contractual confidentiality obligations, and do not use your data for their own purposes.

• Cloud hosting and storage. Our database and uploaded images are hosted on private cloud infrastructure located in the United States.
• Recipe card scanning. When you upload a recipe card for scanning, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to extract the recipe text. Anthropic does not retain this data for training and deletes it after processing. See Anthropic's privacy policy for details.
• Content safety. Uploaded images may be checked for inappropriate content using the same Claude API, under the same terms.
• Crash and error reporting. If the app encounters an error or crash, diagnostic information (stack trace, app version, device model, operating system) is sent to a third-party crash reporting service to help us fix bugs. This information does not include your recipes, account credentials, or uploaded images.

What We Do Not Do

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it to train machine learning models. Recipea does not include any third-party analytics, advertising, or behavioral tracking.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app's Settings screen. When you do, we immediately and permanently delete your account and all associated content from our database and storage, including your recipes, images, meal plans, cook sessions, and groups you created. This deletion is not reversible.

Backups of our database are retained for operational purposes for up to 30 days, after which your data is fully removed from all backups.

Your Rights

You may at any time:

• Access or correct the information in your account from within the app
• Delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen
• Request a copy of the data we hold about you by contacting support@recipea.ai

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email above.

Children's Privacy

Recipea is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where practical.
